Congratulations to Diego Coutino Granados and Carter Slack for being selected to receive the 2025 Dr. R. Mitch Lambert Foundation Memorial Scholarship! Diego will be attending Ohio University to study Botany and Plant Biology, while Carter will be attending The Ohio State University to study Computer Science. Thank you to everyone who donated for making this scholarship possible for these two deserving young men!
Dr. R. Mitch Lambert taught Chemistry at Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio for 27 years and was deeply loved by his students and colleagues for his sense of humor, his passion for learning, and his expertise at everything. Every student who had Mitch as a teacher and every teacher who worked with him can tell stories about how his passion for science and for learning impacted their lives.
Since 2020, 2-3 outstanding seniors at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio have each been awarded a scholarship in Mitch's name to support their pursuit of a college degree in science, math or engineering. So far, fourteen outstanding future scientists have received a combined total of over $24,000 in scholarships to support their studies.
To continue offering these scholarships after his passing in 2019, a group of his Roosevelt High School Science Department colleagues have formed the Dr. R. Mitch Lambert Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations to the foundation are fully tax-deductible and will go directly to supporting more future scientists from Roosevelt High School as they pursue their degrees in higher education.
