July 2025 update from Henry: "Since graduating RHS, I attended Ohio State University and earned a bachelors of science in chemistry. I am now pursuing a PhD in biochemistry at the University of Michigan. For my thesis work I am studying CRISPR and its applications in gene therapy. I hope to one day have my own lab at a research institution and to continue teaching and mentoring students."
August 2025 update from Aly: "It is crazy to think that 5 years have gone by since I graduated from Roosevelt, and received the Dr. Mitch Lambert scholarship. I can only imagine what sarcastic jokes he would make at where I am in life now, though I know he would be beaming with pride! I know it would've made him laugh when I changed my major from Biomedical Engineering to Early Childhood Education considering how many times I wanted to drop his Advanced Chemistry class because I thought it was too hard for me. He gave me confidence in myself to believe I could be an engineer if I wanted to, but he also taught me that it is most important to follow your heart and find your calling, which is what he did. I know mine is to impact children's lives the way Dr. Lambert impacted ours. After graduating from the University of Akron and getting my teaching license for PreK-5th grade, I am now actually a full time nanny for an 18-month-old baby (imagine Dr. Lambert's jokes about getting a degree in teaching and not using it right away... but thanks to this job I've now been to 5 new countries since graduating in December)!! What would be getting the most jokes, laughter, and teasing, however, is definitely the fact that I am getting married on August 16th! I can practically hear him telling my fiance "It's not too late to run!" or "Are you sure you thought this through? Do you know who you're dealing with here?" but I can also hear him admitting, eventually, that he is so happy I am happy and that he wishes all the best for me. I still feel so lucky to have been chosen to receive this scholarship 5 years ago, and though I did not end up in the science field like intended, I am positive that he would be just as proud of where I am now.
August 2025 update from Mason: "I graduated from Ohio State University in winter of '23 with my BA in Chemistry and since have started pharmacy school here. I'm starting a rotation at the Ross Heart Hospital through OSU this month and classes resume again at the end of the month, so I'm excited to start therapeutic topics and have my first experience in a hospital setting."

September 2025 update from Chris: "I've had three internships in the space industry now. First, I worked on the Escapade and Lightning satellites at Rocket Lab in Long Beach, California. Escapade is actually two satellites that will be going to orbit Mars to gather data on the planet's magnetosphere. I also worked at Firefly Aerospace in Austin, Texas, where I did work on the Blue Ghost lunar lander that had a successful mission and landed on the moon on March 2, 2025. Last but certainly not least, I just got back from an internship at Blue Origin in Kent, Washington, where I worked on the BE-7 engine, which is the engine that will be going on Blue Origin's lunar lander, Blue Moon."
July 2025 update from Jillian: "Since graduating from RHS in 2021, I have completed my undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Canisius University this past spring, while closing out my collegiate volleyball career. Throughout my undergraduate time, I was able to explore the different opportunities I could pursue with my degree by working in hospitals and doctors offices as well as completing an internship in bioinformatics. Currently I am pursuing a MS in Regulatory and Clinical Research Management at Regis College with hopes of entering the pharmaceutical industry or a physician assistant program upon completion! I am forever grateful for receiving the Dr. R Mitch Lambert Memorial Foundation Scholarship as Dr. Lambert, as well as many of the other teachers at RHS, had a profound impact when it came to pursuing biochemistry and on the human being I have become."
Rain Carman and Tara Sefchick
August 2025 update from Rain: "After graduating from RHS, I went on to Ohio University to pursue a B.S. in Wildlife & Conservation Biology. While there, I completed a summer internship working with wild turtles, joined the Williams Avian Ecology Lab, and conducted my own research project studying the habitat use of urban birds, which I presented as a poster at the Association of Field Ornithologists Annual Meeting. I graduated summa cum laude from OU this past May and spent the rest of my summer volunteering at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where I got to help out with bird and bat monitoring. Now, I’m looking forward to October, when I’ll start in my new position as an AmeriCorps Education Member at the Cincinnati Zoo! I will always be grateful to the Dr. R. Mitch Lambert Foundation for helping me afford my tuition, and to Dr. Lambert himself for being such a wonderful teacher and encouraging my passion for science."
August 2025 update from Tara: "After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 2022, I went on to pursue a B.S. in Environmental Science at Denison University. Thanks to the wonderful faculty at Denison, I've gained a much deeper appreciation for geology, biology, and the many ways that those two fields intersect. I've also explored a wide range of environmentally-focused jobs since starting college, including research at Denison, environmental health work with Licking County Health Department, and educational outreach work with Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Lambert Foundation Scholarship helped cover a portion of my tuition, and for that I am forever grateful!"
Jay Datta and Natalie Kline
July 2025 update from Jay: "Finishing my final year at OSU; Finishing my BS in Biology and a minor in Anatomy; Teaching assistant for Advanced Anatomy; Clinical research team member; Currently applying to medical schools around the "country!
July 2025 update from Natalie: "I am currently a junior at Kent State University and I am majoring in biochemistry with a minor in environmental studies. This past spring and this upcoming fall I have been working with a campus research group developing cancer therapy drugs. This summer I got an internship at Natural Essentials in the quality control department, where we test the cosmetic and OTC topical drugs produced by our plant to make sure that they contain the correct concentration of active ingredients and that there are no microbiological organisms in them."
Adam Khan, Katherine Logue and Fadia Naqash
July 2025 update from Katherine: "Since graduating from Roosevelt and receiving the Lambert Foundation Scholarship in 2024, I went on to attend Georgia Tech where I major in Computer Science (concentrating in intelligence and modeling/simulation) and minor in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (concentrating in climate change). I am active in a few clubs on campus and gained a leadership position as a Policy Lead for the Science & Technology Policy Club’s Environment/Energy Committee. While serving as a lead in this club, I had my first paper published by the Journal of Science Policy and Governance on the Environmental and Socioeconomic Impacts of Data Centers on the State of Georgia. This summer, I have been working as a SURGE Research Scholar at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability where I work with the Hollberg and Hoyt lab who are creating low-cost methane sensors for wetlands and other non-homogenous environments by utilizing lasers. My role within the lab is to take data points with a methane gas cell and then create a machine learning model to compare our lab and field data so that we can better quantify the concentration of methane we find with our field laser."
July 2025 update from Fadia: "I go to Case Western Reserve University majoring in Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism with a minor in Public Health on a premedical track. I am currently involved with Kesem Greater Cleveland, cwru’s chapter of Muslim student association, CWRU’s chapter of QuestBridge, Crossroads of Healthcare, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, Preventative Medicine for Kids, Heart Health Collective, research on campus in the school of medicine, volunteering, and tutoring. I have earned Dean’s High Honors both semesters so far at CWRU as well as Choose Ohio First scholarship through CWRU, Governor’s Merit scholarship, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Scholarship. I also currently am doing research at NEOMED in Neurobiology and Orthopedics."
